Phillies center fielder Ben Revere, who’s great on Twitter, taped a message to his glove remembering the victims of the Boston Marathon explosions and tweeted a pic of it before yesterday’s game with the Reds.

He then went out and made the catch of the year with it during the second inning, robbing Todd Frazier of an extra-base hit by sprinting toward the gap, taking flight and snagging the ball while sliding into the warning track.

Revere quickly found his footing and fired to the cut-off man, whose relay doubled-up Jay Bruce. Watch the video here.

The catch evoked comparisons to Jim Edmonds’ impossible snag for the Anaheim Angels at Kansas City’s Kauffman Stadium in 1997.

Revere made yet another impressive catch in the third inning, crashing into the wall to deny Cincinnati’s Ryan Hanigan.
